Pan, pain, & more pain

Two weeks ago I started my job at the Community Center as a camp counselor. I am with a day camp called Adventure. The ages range from 5 to 8 years old. Let me remind you of the schedule I go through Monday throug Friday from 9 a.m to about 4:15 p.m. In the morning after we have song time we break into our camps and play a game (so basically mostly running around), then we will usually do an art activity and have morning snack. Then we will either walk to a playground, park, etc (just so the kids have somewhere new to go to and don't get bored of the Community Center) - so a mild form of running if you will. When we get to our destination we will play another activity (again - mostly running around). After, we have to walk back in time for an hour and fifteen minutes of swimming. Then we get lunch and read the kids a story. After that they get some free time and you would think that the counselors get to sit and watch the kids, but no we get to play with them during free time. When free time is over we usually have either another art project or a group activity. When camp is finally over around 4 o'clock for parents to come pick up their kids we play with them until they are picked up. Basically what I am trying to say is after only two weeks of camp I am aching in places I never knew could ache. This may sound like I am complaining but it is so much fun for me. I enjoy going to work everyday because I get to be a kid again. I am exhausted at the end of the day and I muster enough energy to play with Jasmin but it is so worth it to me. There are many benefits to this job: 1 my campers are like my own personal trainers (and there is about 20 - 25 of them. 2 I get paid to "work out" and play with kids. 3 my face and arms have been getting really tan from all the hours outside (now I just have to figure out how to even my tan). So if you see me and I'm limping it's because my body is in pain, pain, & more pain. :)

Potty Training

A few months after Jasmin turned two I decided to try the potty. It was a little hard at first (but then again what child goes from diaper to potty in a day?). These are the very first pics just because every parent should have a picture of their child on the potty (it's just too cute). The first one I tried to get her to pose and the second I made it look like she made something "stinky." Since then she has gone several times. Everytime she goes she knows she gets a treat. She will sit on the potty, hold her hand out and say, "Treat, pease!" I try to sit her down in the morning while she eats breakfast and watches her favorite show (Dora the explorer). Now I am trying to get her to tell me that she needs to go potty before she goes in her diaper - so far no luck. She does tell me AFTER she goes in her diaper though. If anyone has any advice I'm all ears.

5K Run

First off I would like to say HOLY COW!!! I am not a runner and the only reason I was in the Dow run/walk was for work. It was really hard at first but at the end I was really glad I did it and actually flet good (until later that day and the day after) and I'm even considering doing it again. Congatulations to all who participated and finished. I saw many of you after.

Busy Summer

Here is a quick update on what we will be doing over the summer.
Ashley will be woking at the Community Center as a Day Camp Counselor. My days will be filled with chasing kids around, swimming, games, movies, activities, more games, and more running around. It sounds really exhausting but I love it because I'm a kid at heart and what more could I ask for than to play with kids and get paid doing it?! In August Jasmin and I will take our regular two week vacation to Philidelphia to visit my parents. It's always a blast because there is so much to do there. We go to New York, DC, the beach, etc. This year will be even better because my Grandparents will be up there the same time Jas and I are!
Jeremy will continue to work at Best Buy (hopefully continue to bring home a paycheck and not another electronic) while going to school for criminal justice. He is doing great in shcool and loves to tell me all about crimes he is working on.

My First Post

Here's Jasmin trying to smile for the camera. She is much better now. We have way more cute pics of her so I'll post them as soon as I learn how ;)
